Founded in 1923, the company initially focused on the design and manufacture of printing machines, mechanical and electronic calculators, as well as electrostatic copiers, which were distributed worldwide under the Rex-Rotary and Gestetner brands.

In the early 1980s, Contex evolved into its modern form as a market leader in large format scanning. Its long and diverse history has not only refined the scanning technologies used today but has also helped improve the workflows of millions of users. This legacy continues to drive the brand’s ongoing development and consistent enhancement of solution quality.

Contex operates on a global scale, from Japan to Denmark, with its headquarters located just outside Copenhagen.
